everyone - Scotland's environment groups campaigning together (500,000 supporters, 26 organisations, ONE voice)

Voters – at least those with environmental concerns – do care

8 June 2004

Thousands of emails and letters sent to European election candidates by supporters of environmental organisations prove that voters care passionately about what action politicians will take to protect the environment. Everyone, a coalition of Scotland's leading environmental organisations, recruited supporters to put the environment firmly on the political agenda in the run up to June's European Parliament elections.
European candidates confirm that, in some cases, over 90% of the emails and letters they have received, have come from supporters of the Everyone campaign.

“ Voters understand that most of our environmental legislation comes from Europe. There is no doubt that care of the environment is one of the key issues which will be decided in this election,” said Fred Edwards, spokesman for Everyone, “As much as 90 per cent of Scottish environmental legislation starts life there. People who wish to influence that decision-making process should get out and vote on Thursday”.
